Payroll Giving - Why Join Payroll Giving?
It's easy.
All you have to do is fill out a donor form authorising your payroll department to take contributions from your salary. Payroll then pass these funds onto the Inland Revenue approved Payroll Giving agency who distribute donations to the relevant causes. So once you've filled out the initial form, that's it - the rest is done for you.
Giving more now costs less
Because your donation is deducted from your pay (or pension) before your Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax is calculated, you get tax relief straight away at your highest rate of tax, so your donation effectively costs you less.
Better for the causes you care about
Your chosen charity will benefit from regular support from you. Regular income is very important to charities, since it provides a source of funding that can be relied upon.
Confidential
Your employer does not have to know your choice of charity - the Payroll Giving agency will keep it confidential if you wish. You can also ask for your name and address to be withheld from the charity. If you don't they may write to you to thank you for your donations and tell you how they are being used. In any case, all your information is protected under the Data Protection Act and can only be used for the purpose for which it was given.
Flexible
You can change the charity you wish to support at any time - simply tell your Payroll Giving agency. Some Payroll Giving agencies might provide you with a charity card or cheque book so that you can give directly to the charities of your choice. But remember - charities benefit most from regular donations, so try not to change your choice of charity too often.
